on the transfer of P60-billion funds of the Philippine Health Insurance Corporation (PhilHealth). Members of the Save the Philippines Coalition filed graft, plunder, technical malversation, and grave misconduct complaints against him and former PhilHealth president and CEO Emmanuel Ledesma.
Recto was the finance secretary when the fund transfer happened in 2024. Regarding the graft, plunder, technical malversation, and grave misconduct complaints, he expressed his willingness to cooperate with the investigation.
Recently, a statement from his wife, Batangas Governor Vilma Santos, an award-winning actress, emerged online. In the video circulating online that caught the attention of many, Santos talked about their critics and expressed honestly that she is affected by the remarks.
However, she knows to herself that she knows better, and she’s the one who truly knows her husband. As for the bashers, she can just let them go knowing that are the ones on top and they are the ones below them.
“Kung minsan papabayaan mo na lang in a way. Sinasight ko ang sarili ko na kaya niyo kami tinitira kasi nasa taas kami at kaya kayo tumitira kasi nasa baba kayo. And at the same time nakasight din sa sarili ko there are some people yun talagang nagbabash lang walang intensyong iba ah. Ang sina-sight ko ang sarili ko na you know these people siguro kasi gusto nila nandun sila sa lugar mo and it’s so unfortunate hindi nila makaya,”
