Authorities Arrest Woman After Allegedly Taking an 11-Month-Old Infant in Davao City

A 39-year-old woman was arrested after allegedly taking an 11-month-old baby boy from his mother inside a busy transport terminal in Davao City.

On Tuesday morning (December 23, 2025), the suspect, known as Marie, approached a woman who was working as a vendor inside the terminal. The vendor was with her two children, a 13-year-old and her 11-month-old baby.

The suspect started a friendly conversation and later invited the vendor and her children to eat with her. She also suggested that the children come with her to a boarding house, where she claimed she would give them clothes. The mother refused this offer, choosing to stay cautious.

Later on, the suspect offered to take the children out to buy burgers. Believing there was no harm, the mother agreed. When they reached the burger store, the suspect asked the older child to return to his mother to bring the food back. At that moment, she allegedly took the chance to leave with the infant.

With the help of police officers in Cotabato Province, the suspect was tracked down and arrested on Wednesday evening in the town of Carmen. The baby was found safe and unharmed during the arrest.

Thanks to quick police action and cooperation from nearby provinces, the infant was safely rescued and returned to his family.
