Statement of Malacañang on Flood Control Investigation
Malacañang claimed that more people linked to the flood control scam will be “thrown behind bars in the New Year”.
The supposed multi-billion corruption through the flood control projects is undeniably one of the biggest issues in the Philippines this year. Several big names were linked to the issue. Even President Bongbong Marcos was dragged into the budget insertion issue related to the flood control deals of the government.
Former House Budget Appropriation Committee chairman Zaldy Co claimed that Marcos Jr. and former House Speaker Martin Romualdez allegedly inserted a P100 billion budget in 2025. The Palace spoke on the accusation saying that Co allegedly wants the investigation to stop so he tagged the President.

. He also claimed that one big fish will spend the Christmas day behind the bars.
As of this writing, controversial contractor Sarah Discaya and some officials of the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) are detained over the supposed flood control scam. Discaya’s husband, Curlee, also remains detained under the Senate.

However, many Filipinos are asking why some congressmen and senators who were frequently mentioned in the issue are not under detention. Many people are asking about former House Speaker Martin Romualdez who was linked to the supposed multi-billion flood control scam multiple times amid the ongoing investigation.
The presidential cousin stepped down from the House speakership amid the accusations against him. He also appeared before the Independent Commission for Infrastructure (ICI) for the investigation.

Recently, the Palace spoke on the ongoing flood control investigation. Based on a report on PhilStar, Presidential Communications Office Secretary Dave Gomez told the reporters that more people who are linked in the flood control scam will be “thrown behind the bars in the New Year”.
“Some quarters are calling the Discaya couple as the new Napoles but their unexplained wealth is ten times over. Both spent Christmas in detention,”

, the Palace Official stressed that “the flood control investigation does not end on December 25”. According to him, it’s only been a little over four (4) months. He stressed that the Napoles issue took around a year before the individuals were put behind the bars.
“There will surely be more thrown behind bars in the New Year,”
