Man Placed Behind Bars for Failing to Pay Hotel Bill & Threatening Room Boy w/ Gun
A man landed in jail after failing to pay his hotel bill and allegedly pointing a gun at a hotel employee in Nueva Ecija.
According to police reports, the suspect is a 50-year-old resident of Barangay Gabaldon in the Science City of Muñoz. He checked in at Amore Drive-Inn located in Barangay Poblacion East but refused to settle his hotel bill amounting to only P350.
A 24-year-old room boy approached him regarding the unpaid bill, which turned the situation into a terrifying experience.
Instead of paying, the man allegedly pulled out a firearm and threatened the hotel employee. Fearing for his safety, the room boy immediately sought help. Authorities from the Science City of Muñoz Police Station responded quickly to the incident.
When police arrived, they arrested the suspect without further trouble. A body search was conducted, which led to the discovery of a loaded firearm with six bullets in his possession. Aside from the gun, police also recovered five heat-sealed plastic sachets containing dried marijuana leaves weighing about 10 grams.
The man was brought to the custody of the Nueva Ecija Police Provincial Office for further investigation. Police officials said that the presence of an illegal firearm and illegal drugs made the situation more serious than a simple unpaid bill.
The suspect now faces several charges, including grave threat, violation of the Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act, and violation of the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002. These charges carry heavy penalties under the law.
Authorities reminded the public that disputes should always be handled calmly and responsibly. They also stressed that threatening others, especially with a weapon, is a
serious crime
that puts lives at risk.
