Authorities Arrest Viral Pickpocket Suspects in BGC
Taguig City Police arrested two viral pickpocket suspects in Bonifacio Global City (BGC).
On Wednesday (January 7, 2026), the suspects were taken into custody on January 7 during a regular foot patrol in Barangay Fort Bonifacio, bringing relief to many residents and workers who had been alarmed by the circulating video.
Police confirmed that the two men arrested for illegal gambling and possession of illegal drugs were the same individuals seen in the viral pickpocketing footage. The suspects were identified as Junmar Tenio and John Michael Villaruel.
Officers from Sub-Station 1 noticed the pair while patrolling the area and caught them in the act of illegal gambling.
During a body search, police found two sachets of suspected shabu with a total weight of around 3.21 grams. Because of this, the suspects now face multiple charges related to gambling and illegal drugs. Authorities are currently preparing formal cases against them.
The arrest has also helped move forward the investigation into the pickpocketing incident that spread widely on social media.
Police said the victim in the viral video has already reached out to the Taguig City Police Station and is now working closely with investigators. The victim is preparing to file a formal theft complaint against both suspects, which may add to the charges they are already facing.
The Taguig police assured residents that patrols will continue to keep public areas safe and to quickly respond to crimes that threaten the community.
