59-Year-Old Man Becomes Lawyer After 11 BAR Exam Attempts
A 59-year-old man has finally achieved his dream to become a lawyer for passing the BAR examination after 11 attempts.
Eduardo Rivera Regio has finally achieved a dream he carried for decades. After taking the BAR Examinations 11 times, he passed the 2025 Bar and can now proudly call himself a lawyer. His journey was long, filled with setbacks, and tested his patience, but he never fully gave up.
Regio first took the Bar Exams in 1993 when he was still in his twenties. At that time, he joined mainly to see how the exams worked. Over the years, he continued to try, even after multiple failed attempts.
Temporarily, he stepped back and paused, but the dream stayed with him. In 2015 and again in 2023, he came very close to passing, missing the mark by only a small margin. Instead of giving up, these near successes pushed him to try one last time.
For his final attempt, Eduardo decided to prepare more seriously. He requested to review again, studied harder, and gave his best effort. More than anything, he trusted the process and accepted whatever outcome would come.
When the results were released, his persistence finally paid off as he became one of the 5,594 passers that year.
As a father of five, he hoped his determination would encourage his children to value education and possibly pursue law as well. His life experience as a former barangay official and current employee of a government bank also shaped his belief in discipline and responsibility in public service.
Gusto ko sana na, some of my children ma-encourage ko to take law course,
” he said.
