The management of
SM City Manila
said it is providing a
“Devotees’ Rest Lounge”
where participants in the annual procession can hydrate and charge their gadgets.
“In the spirit of faith and service, SM City Manila provides a free lounge for Black Nazarene devotees, offering free charging, free water, and a first aid kit to keep you safe and refreshed,” the mall said in a post.
The rest lounge is located at the mall’s Event Center on the Upper Ground Floor and will be open until 9 p.m.
Meanwhile, on Friday, January 9, devotees are participating in the annual procession of the Black Nazarene, in which the Nazareno image will be transferred from the Quirino Grandstand to Quiapo Church.

The procession centers on the transfer of the replica of the Black Nazarene, a wooden sculpture of Jesus Christ carrying the cross, from the Quirino Grandstand to Quiapo Church.
The image is considered miraculous by its devotees, many of whom walk barefoot as a sign of penance.
The procession serves as a reenactment of Jesus’ journey to Calvary, where he was crucified.
