Photographer Covering Traslacion 2026 Dies During Coverage
TRASLACION 2026 – A photographer passed away while covering the Feast of the Black Nazarene at the Quirino Grandstand on Friday (January 9, 2026).
The incident happened in the early hours of the morning, right in the middle of the religious celebration that gathers thousands of devotees every year.
The victim was identified as Itoh Son, a 51-year-old photojournalist from Saksi Ngayon. He was also known as one of the directors and officers of the Manila Police District Press Corps. Colleagues said he was actively documenting the activities at the venue when the incident occurred.
According to fellow media workers on site, Itoh suddenly collapsed while standing. They noticed that he began to convulse and foam formed around his mouth, which immediately caused alarm among those nearby.
Seeing the situation, people around him quickly called for help. Emergency responders rushed to his side and gave him first aid right away. He was then immediately taken to the hospital for further treatment.
Despite the quick response and medical attention, he was declared dead upon arrival, according to authorities. Initial reports pointed to a possible heart attack as the cause of death.
