No Major Incidents Recorded During Traslacion 2026, PNP Says
The Philippine National Police reported that there were no major or untoward incidents recorded during the Traslacion 2026.
As of 10:00 in the morning of January 9, 2026 (Friday), PNP said that no major incidents were reported during the annual Feast of the Black Nazarene.
PNP Acting Chief Lt. Gen. Jose Melencio Nartatez Jr. personally visited the PNP Command Center to monitor the situation. From there, he was able to see real-time updates of the activities happening along the route of the procession.
According to him, the police set up 28 cameras in key areas to closely watch the crowd and ensure public safety throughout the event.
Since the night before, when Lt. Gen. Nartatez also visited the Quirino Grandstand, the common reports received involved devotees experiencing high blood pressure and minor injuries.
These cases were immediately attended to by medical teams on the ground. Police officers also assisted in helping patients reach ambulances so they could be brought to nearby hospitals for proper care.
The PNP emphasized that crowd control and medical response teams were well-prepared ahead of the event. Officers were strategically placed in busy areas to guide devotees, manage foot traffic, and respond quickly to emergencies.
Coordination between the police, local government units, and health workers helped keep the situation calm and organized.
