Amid Dad Rodrigo’s ICC Detention, Kitty Duterte Visits Former President Again
Since March 2025, former Pres. Rodrigo Roa Duterte is detained under the custody of the ICC. He was arrested by the Philippine authorities who assisted the International Criminal Police Organization (Interpol) upon his arrival from Hong Kong.
Then, only his common-law wife, Honeylet Avanceña, and their daughter, Kitty Duterte, were able to be with former Pres. Rodrigo Duterte personally before he was flown to The Hague, Netherlands for the transfer of his custody to the ICC. He was flown to Dubai en route for The Hague on the same day that he was arrested.

ICC also recently rejected the request of Duterte’s lawyer for an additional report on the health
of the former President. British-Israeli lawyer Nicholas Kaufman asked the foreign court for an additional report as it can be used in another plea for the former President’s temporary release.
The Duterte siblings claimed that they accepted the ICC ruling on the interim release appeal of the former President “with open hearts”. Recently, two (2) of them were able to make recent visits to their father inside the detention center in The Hague, Netherlands.

, he claimed that his father’s hair is already long. He also recently claimed that the former President is fine and is gaining weight inside the detention facility.
“He said noh that, ‘This is the price I have to pay because I saved my country and the youth,’”
