Death Toll Rises to 11 in Binaliw Landfill Tragedy as Another Body Is Found

Binaliw Landfill Horror Worsens w/ 25 Still Missing and Deaths at 11

BINALIW LADFILL – What began as a routine day at the Binaliw Landfill has turned into a heartbreaking tragedy for dozens of families.

The death toll from the tragic landslide at the Binaliw Landfill in Cebu City has climbed to 11 after another body was recovered early Tuesday morning, authorities confirmed. The latest victim, a female cadaver discovered at dawn, was identified as a 50-year-old woman, according to Cebu City Councilor Dave Tumulak.

The recovery underscores the growing scale of the disaster, as search and rescue operations continue amid difficult and dangerous conditions at the landfill site. As of the latest update, 25 individuals remain unaccounted for, while 12 others are still confined in hospitals due to injuries sustained during the collapse.

Councilor Tumulak said rescue teams are maintaining full search and rescue status, with operations ongoing despite the risks posed by unstable debris. He noted that heavy equipment, including cranes, has already been deployed to assist rescuers in clearing the massive piles of waste and soil that buried parts of the facility.

Earlier, Cebu City Mayor Nestor Archival explained that the structure involved in the incident was not a single standalone building. Instead, the staff facility that collapsed was composed of interconnected sections, which may have contributed to the extent of the damage and the number of casualties when the landslide occurred.
