Alleged Luxury Shoes Worn by Retired PNP General Turns Out to be Fake

The alleged luxury shoes being worn by a retired Philippine National Police general has turned out to be fake.

The complaint filed against a retired Philippine National Police general has taken an unexpected turn after it was discovered that the shoes at the center of the issue were not as expensive as first believed.

The pair of alleged luxury shoes turned out to be an affordable item bought online, causing confusion and surprise within police circles.

The issue began when Napolcom Vice Chairperson Rafael Vicente Calinisan filed a complaint against retired PNP Health Service Chief Brigadier General Jezebel Imelda Medina. The complaint was based on claims that Medina had worn allegedly high-end shoes, raising questions about conduct and responsibility while still in service.

However, documents now circulating in Camp Crame, along with a receipt linked to the shoes, revealed a different story. Instead of costing over P70,000, the shoes were priced at only $33.96, or a little over P2,000. Records showed that the shoes were purchased from an online shop, confirming that they were not luxury items.

Because of the initial assumption, Medina was charged by Napolcom with less grave neglect of duty and conduct unbecoming of a police officer. These charges could have affected her retirement benefits if proven.

Medina officially retired from the police force on December 25, 2025, but the complaint was filed two days earlier, on December 23.

The new details have raised questions about how the complaint was handled and whether proper verification was done before filing the case. Many observers pointed out that appearances can be misleading, especially in an age where online shopping offers low-cost versions of popular designs.

As of now,
