PAGASA Raises Signal No. 2 in 7 Areas Due to Tropical Storm Ada

PAGASA Releases Latest Weather Update for Saturday (January 17, 2026)

PAGASA LATEST UPDATE – The state weather bureau raised Signal No.2 in several areas due to Tropical Storm Ada.

On Saturday (January 17, 2026), the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration released the latest weather update in the country. Tropical Storm Ada will affect the country’s weather condition.

PAGASA reported that Tropical Storm Ada was last spotted 120 km east northeast of Catarman, Northern Samar or 175 km east of Juban, Sorsogon. It further intensified along the waters east of the Bicol Region.

Ada has has maximum sustained winds of 85 kilometers per hour near the center and gusts of up to 105 kph. It is moving 20 kph at a northwestward direction.

The weather disturbance is set to pass near Catanduanes between Saturday afternoon and early Sunday morning (January 18).

The northeast monsoon will bring strong to gale-force gusts over Batanes, Babuyan Islands, northern and eastern mainland Cagayan, eastern Isabela, Ilocos Norte, Abra, Aurora, Quezon, Oriental Mindoro, Romblon, Marinduque, Cuyo Islands, Bicol Region, Visayas, Dinagat Islands, Camiguin, and Surigao del Norte.

“Ada is forecast to remain in a tropical storm category while moving over the sea east of Visayas and Southern Luzon,”

PAGASA said.

Ada might weaken into a tropical depression by Tuesday (January 20).

The localized thunderstorms will bring moderate to rough coastal water conditioning over Northern Luzon. The remaining parts of the country will have slight to moderate surrounding sea conditions, according to
