Bong Revilla Detained Despite Posting Bail in High-Profile Bulacan Case

Bong Revilla Posts ₱90K Bail but Remains Jailed Over Controversial Bulacan Project

BONG REVILLA – Former senator Bong Revilla is once again at the center of controversy after posting bail in a graft case linked to a multimillion-peso infrastructure project in Bulacan.

According to an order issued by the Sandiganbayan Third Division, Bong Revilla will remain detained at the New Quezon City Jail in Payatas while the cases are ongoing. He is facing charges of graft and malversation of public funds through falsification of public documents before the Sandiganbayan Fourth and Third Divisions.

Authorities found probable cause indicating that the flood control project was never actually implemented despite being declared completed. Investigators alleged that accomplishment reports were falsified, fraudulent billing documents were issued, and disbursement vouchers were endorsed to facilitate the release of public funds for the supposed project.

The case also stemmed from a referral by the Independent Commission on Infrastructure, based on statements from former DPWH Undersecretary Roberto Bernardo. His revelations pointed to alleged kickbacks involving lawmakers and government officials, including the former senator.

Revilla has firmly denied all the allegations against him. He maintains his innocence and has consistently rejected claims that he was involved in any irregularities related to the project.

On the evening of Monday, January 19, Revilla surrendered after a warrant of arrest was issued against him. This, however, is not the first time the former lawmaker has been detained. He was previously jailed in connection with a plunder case arising from the Priority Development Assistance Fund scam after the Sandiganbayan issued a warrant of arrest on June 20, 2014.
