QC Jail Says No to Bong Revilla’s Clothes & Gadgets

Bong Revilla Barred From Bringing Personal Items Into QC Jail

BONG REVILLA – Former senator Bong Revilla’s detention at the Quezon City Jail began with a strict reminder that jail rules apply to everyone, regardless of status.

Detained former senator Ramon “Bong” Revilla Jr. was prevented from bringing personal clothes and electronic gadgets into the Quezon City Jail after personnel enforced standard jail regulations, an official from the Bureau of Jail Management and Penology (BJMP) confirmed.

According to BJMP spokesperson Jail Supt. Jayrex Joseph Bustinera, Revilla arrived at the facility with unauthorized items, including civilian clothing and gadgets, which were immediately turned away by jail authorities. In line with existing rules, Revilla was instead issued the standard uniform for persons deprived of liberty (PDLs), consisting of a yellow shirt and jogging pants. He was also provided with an extra shirt and a basic hygiene kit upon admission.

“Lahat ng damit na hindi authorized, hindi dilaw, gaya ng civilian plain clothes niya na dala, pinauwi natin ’yon sa kanyang abogado. And other gadgets, pinauwi rin natin dahil bawal ang gadgets,”

Bustinera said.

Revilla was detained on Tuesday at the Quezon City Jail in Payatas as he faces a malversation case linked to an alleged P92.8-million ghost flood control project in Bulacan. He is currently being held alongside his four co-accused, former Bulacan First District Engineering Office officials Brice Hernandez, Jaypee Mendoza, Arjay Domasig, and Juanito Mendoza.

Bustinera explained that Revilla and the other newly admitted detainees are undergoing mandatory medical quarantine and classification procedures, which may take more than seven days to complete. This process determines health status, security risk, and appropriate cell assignment before detainees are integrated into the general jail population.

“Doon natin titingnan sa seven days ang cell assignment nila, risk assessment nila, security risk at ano ’yong possible na selda na hindi naman mako-compromise ang safety and security ng ating mga PDL,”

Bustinera said.

He added that the Quezon City Jail has an infirmary with doctors and nurses available should any detainee require medical care during confinement.

The facility also currently houses seven Department of Public Works and Highways Region 4B (MIMAROPA) officials who were earlier detained over a separate alleged anomalous flood control project in Oriental Mindoro.

Cells at the jail measure around 47 square meters and are equipped with at least five bunk beds, a toilet, a shower, a sink, and running water. Although there is no air-conditioning, ventilation is provided through ceiling fans.

Bustinera said.

He emphasized that Revilla will not receive special treatment and will be entitled to the same P100 daily food allowance given to all detainees.
