Curlee Discaya feels robbed when asked to return money to the government, and Senator Risa Hontiveros has this to say about it.
The Department of Justice (DOJ) had asked controversial contractor
Pacifico “Curlee” Discaya
to return the money to the government. However, despite being willing to cooperate with the investigation, the contractor seemingly refused to do this, saying,
“Your Honor, kung magkano po ang ire-restitute po muna namin… Ako po, hindi ko po masabi kung magkano po kasi para sa akin po, parang kami po ang nanakawan.”
His remark went viral, and Assistant Ombudsman Mico Clavano called him out because of this. According to Clavano, it was not robbery because the money would be returned to where they belong. It is accountability.
Senator Risa Hontiveros also reacted to this statement of Discaya, who is currently detained in the Senate. She expressed,
“Kaya talagang ilan sa amin halos mahulog sa silya. I mean hello, sasabihin niya na ninakawan sila?”
She added,
“Parang hinold up tayo tapos kailangan pa nating mag-sorry sa holdaper. I mean tigilan na ng mga Discaya yung ganyang pag-iiwas sa mga tanong or outright pag-deflect sa direksyon na gustong tahakin ng hearing.”
She can only let Senate President Pro Tempore and Senate Blue Ribbon Committee chair Panfilo Lacson secure the ledger after he promised to resolve this problem.
Hontiveros also said Discaya is not acting in good faith and therefore does not deserve to be included in the Witness Protection Program.
