PETA Expresses Concern Over Treatment of Giant Python in Davao City
PETA – The People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals expressed concern over the treatment of a giant python in Davao City.
Earlier this week, the animal welfare group expressed deep concern over the way a giant python was handled after it appeared on a road in Davao City. The incident quickly drew public attention and garnered various reactions from the netizens.
PETA called on the public to be more careful and compassionate when dealing with animals, whether large or small. The group reacted to a video showing a huge python that had wandered into the middle of a street in Barangay Cabantian on Monday night (January 19). Because of the snake’s presence, traffic along the road came to a stop.
In the video, a man was seen pulling the python by its tail, spinning it around, and striking it against the concrete. Despite the rough handling, the snake did not attempt to attack or bite anyone and was eventually dragged to the side of the road.
The way the animal was treated alarmed many viewers, including animal advocates.
PETA stressed that pythons are usually shy and calm animals that rarely pose a threat to people. The group explained that when wildlife accidentally enters human areas, the best response should be patience and kindness instead of fear or violence.
According to them, trained authorities should have been called to safely rescue the snake and return it to a proper habitat where it belongs.
The uploader was shocked not only by the sudden appearance of such a large snake but also by how it was handled. He said they were unsure what happened to the python afterward, which added to the concern of viewers.
Many residents hope this situation will encourage better awareness and responsible actions when animals are found in public places.
