“How many times do you wear your favorite jeans before washing?” the Redditor asked in the “r/pinoy” community.

“Ako hanggang [two times] lang, makati na sa balat eh. [Three times] at most kapag hindi talaga nagtanggal at nagpawis sa labas,” another

“After wearing an authentic pair, baliktarin, at isabit lang. This is what I do sa mga Levi’s ko. I wash them if after a few months, nakikita ko na madumi na. I don’t wear them often, minsan [two times] a month lang and naka-rotate sila,” a different Reddit

“If lagi ka pawis sa daily activity mo, don’t do this. Advisable ito if lagi ka na AC [air-conditioned] na room. The reason siguro na gusto nila is 10x gamitin bago labhan is, they want you to wear it longer, as more frequent washing will destroy the fabric faster. I believe the older jeans are sturdier,” the Reddit user added.

“As a general rule, we recommend washing your denim sparingly. Over-washing can ruin the unique characteristics of your jeans, such as the creases and fades that naturally develop with wear,” it said in a blog.

“A good rule of thumb is to wash your jeans after about 10 wears, unless they are visibly dirty or start to smell. Between washes, spot clean any stains with a mild soap and a damp cloth or an old toothbrush,” the clothing brand added.

Levi’s stated that washing jeans “less frequently” helps preserve their quality and also reduces water consumption.

The American company was the first to manufacture blue jeans.
