The cow, named Veronika, has amazed people not only with this unusual behavior but also with her ability to recognize the voices of her family members and respond immediately when called.
The experts described Veronika’s use of the stick as the first documented case of tool use in a domesticated cow, suggesting that cows may have higher cognitive abilities than previously thought.
Researchers placed a deck brush on the ground in different positions and observed how Veronika selected the stick’s end and which parts of her body she scratched. she consistently chose the right spot for effective scratching.
