Lawyer of Sen. Bato dela Rosa Speaks on Supposed “Hiding” of Client amid the Alleged ICC Arrest Warrant

– Lawyer Israelito Torreon expressed his belief that the Filipino people allegedly understands the situation of the Senator.
Dela Rosa, the first chief of the Philippine National Police (PNP) during the tenure of former President Rodrigo Roa Duterte, has always claimed that he is allegedly the next target of the International Criminal Court (ICC) after the former President. He had change stance about his willingness to be investigated several times.
After Ombudsman Boying Remulla claimed that an ICC arrest warrant was allegedly released against Sen. Bato dela Rosa in the later part of 2025, the Senator was no show in the Senate sessions. His colleagues in the upper chamber claimed that his office allegedly remains functional though.
Recently, Sen.
Bato dela Rosa celebrated his 64th birthday and he released an official statement
on social media. According to him, he is waiting for the time to face the case against him “before the Filipino people” if charges have really been filed against him.

“Kung papayag lamang ako na ako’y huhulihin at lilitisin ng mga tao at korteng banyaga, tila binalewala ko na rin ang pakikipaglaban ng ating mga bayani at sundalo para sa ating kasarinlan
,” the Senator said.
Sen. Bato dela Rosa stressed in his statement that he remains ‘patient, composed, and dignified’. According to him, he will never allow that the efforts of the people who fought for the country will be put to waste as he values patriotism.
The Senator is absent from the Senate sessions since November 11, 2025. His fellow senators confirmed that he remains to be paid as the “no work, no pay” rule allegedly does not apply to them. Sen. Imee Marcos claimed that Dela Rosa still manages to sign important documents despite his non-appearance in the Senate sessions.

Ping Lacson, he believes that Sen. Bato dela Rosa should return to work as he is not wanted
. According to Lacson, it does not make sense to him that Dela Rosa is hiding when no arrest warrant was presented.
Recently, Sen. Bato dela Rosa’s lawyer, Atty. Israelito Torreon, spoke on the prolonged absence of the Senator in the Senate sessions. According to DZMM TeleRadyo, the legal counsel of Dela Rosa believes that the Filipino people understands the situation of the Senator.
“I think the taumbayan understands his situation he is in. The unique situation simply because of the fact that there was already a very good example as to what happened to former president Rodrigo Duterte,”
