Former Sen. Antonio Trillanes Speaks on “Critical” 2028 Elections

and the Marcos Jr. administration supporters to unite in the 2028 Elections versus the Duterte family.
Ahead of the 2028 Elections, there are already a lot of talks on who might run for the presidential poll. Undeniably, there are also speculations that the next elections might mark the return of the Dutertes in power.

Amid the issues and accusations against Pres. Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr., Vice Pres.
Sara Duterte previously claimed that she is ready to the country’s president if Marcos Jr. resigns from his position
Duterte and Marcos Jr. made a great tandem in the 2022 Elections but their tie had a falling out just a few years after. In 2024, she resigned from being the secretary of the Department of Education (DepEd) as well as the Marcos Jr. Cabinet.
Vice Pres. Sara Duterte is also surrounded by issues. She is being questioned over her alleged misuse of the P625 million confidential funds of DepEd and the Office of the Vice President (OVP). The gap between her and the President was even more triggered by the arrest and the transfer of the custody of former Pres. Rodrigo Duterte to the International Criminal Court (ICC) in The Hague, Netherlands.

Trillanes called on the Filipinos not to lose sight of the 2028 elections. During the interview, he stressed that the next poll is “critical” for the country.

“While we are actively engaging on the day-to-day issues, but, we should not lose sight of the 2028 elections. Napaka-kritikal ng 2028 elections para sa ating bansa. Pagkamali ang pagkapili ulit ng mga kababayan natin dito ay baka hindi na tayo tumagal as a democracy,”
Trillanes said.
Former Sen. Antonio Trillanes also claimed that they are allegedly showing through the cases that they are filing how the Dutertes supposedly steal money from the government. He recently filed graft and plunder charges versus Vice Pres. Sara Duterte.
“Specifically, pagka naka balik ang mga Duterte sa poder kasi nga dito nga ipinapakita namin sa mga ipina-file naming kaso kung papanu sila magnakaw ng pondo ng gobyerno,”
the former Senator said.

he expressed.
