Sen. Robin Padilla Breaks Silence on Encounter w/ Ex-PNP Chief Nicolas Torre III
ROBIN PADILLA
– The Senator slammed the questions over his encounter with former Philippine National Police (PNP) chief Nicolas Torre III wherein they shook hands.
Undeniably, there is a huge division in the Philippine government now. It is no secret to the Filipino people that President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. and Vice Pres. Sara Duterte are no longer in good terms. Their rift was triggered with the arrest and the transfer of the custody of former Pres. Rodrigo Roa Duterte to the International Criminal Court in The Hague, Netherlands.
Duterte was arrested by the Philippine authorities who assisted the International Criminal Police Organization (Interpol) last March 11. One of the lead implementers of his arrest and his detention was then-Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG) chief Nicolas Torre III.
Torre was the one who was leading the turn of events in Villamor Air Base where Duterte was detained for several hours after his arrest. On the same day, the former President was flown out of the country for the transfer of his custody to the ICC.
Countless criticisms were thrown at former CIDG chief Nicolas Torre III who became the PNP chief just a few weeks after the arrest of former Pres. Rodrigo Duterte. Some Duterte ally senators reacted to the arrest of the former President and one of those who call for the return of Duterte is Sen. Robin Padilla.
