Tricycle Driver Stabbed in Passenger Dispute w/ Pedicab Driver
A tricycle driver was stabbed by a pedicab driver in Barangay 746, Malate, Manila, due to a passenger dispute.
According to barangay officials, the trouble started when a passenger boarded the tricycle driven by the 62-year-old victim, even though a 63-year-old pedicab driver was ahead in the queue.
The incident caused tension between the two drivers, as both depended on every passenger to earn their daily needs. The loss of a single fare, worth only P50, reportedly angered the pedicab driver.
While the actual stabbing was not recorded, another CCTV camera later showed the injured victim walking away from the tricycle terminal, covered in blood and clearly in pain as he tried to seek help.
Barangay officials quickly responded to the scene and rushed the victim to the hospital, where he received medical attention. Authorities said the stab wound was in the chest, making the incident even more alarming given the victim’s age.
A barangay official who helped respond explained that the suspect acted out of anger over the lost P50 income. Unfortunately, a small amount of money led to a decision that caused serious harm and could have ended a life.
