Cong. Leandro Leviste Claims He’s Allegedly Told To Stop Releasing Evidence vs. Gov’t Officials Linked to Flood Control Scam

– The Batangas 1st District Congressman confirmed that he sought for an authority to travel abroad an it is allegedly upon the request of the “high-level representatives of the administration”.

Some young congressmen in the Philippines became more prominent amid the flood control issue in the country. The supposed multi-billion flood control corruption has brought thousands of Filipinos to the streets last September and November to protest.

Even celebrities in the Philippine showbiz industry and some local government officials joined the so-called “Trillion Peso March”. Many Filipinos were left calling for accountability after several congressmen and officials of the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) were linked to the supposed flood control scam.

, hooked attention after he claimed that allegedly has the supposed files of the late former DPWH undersecretary Maria Catalina Cabral.

Cabral reportedly died from falling from a cliff in Benguet last December. Prior to her death, she resigned from being an undersecretary of the DPWH after she was tagged in the supposed flood control scam.

Even the death of the former DPWH Usec. was controversial. There were calls to really prove the identity of the remains that was found under the cliff in Benguet.

The supposed Cabral files held by Batangas Cong. Leandro Leviste allegedly contains the project allocations in the DPWH as well as the proponents of the said government projects and their amounts. The

DPWH surrendered the computer and files of Cabral to the Ombudsman

amid the issue.

Recently, there were rumors that Cong. Leandro Leviste allegedly sought an authority to travel abroad. His solar firm is also under investigation now and the House Committee on Legislative Franchises is expected to start the probe next week.

, the Batangas lawmaker claimed that he was allegedly asked to stop releasing evidence against the government officials who are linked to the controversial flood control scam.

“I asked for the travel authority upon the request of representatives of the administration, who asked that I go abroad and stop releasing evidence linking government officials to anomalous DPWH projects—but this does not mean that I will be abroad for that whole time,”

Leviste said.

According to the young Congressman, he will be present at any opportunity if the Congress will give him a chance to speak on any issue. Sen. Loren Legarda’s son did not bare the details about his travel period and his destinations.
