Ilocos Norte Cong. Sandro Marcos Files House Bill Seeking “No Work, No Pay” Rule in Chamber

– The House Majority Leader and Ilocos Norte Congressman is pushing for the “no work, no pay” scheme for the members of the House of Representatives.
Amid the prolonged absence of Senator Ronald “Bato” dela Rosa from the Senate sessions, it was made known to the public through his colleagues that the “no work, no pay” rule does not apply to senators. The Senator is no show during Senate sessions since November 11 amid an alleged arrest warrant issued by the International Criminal Court (ICC) against him.

Sherwin Gatchalian said the senators are not under the “no work, no pay” rule amid the long absence of Sen. Bato dela Rosa
. Recently, Gatchalian expressed his belief that Dela Rosa should return to work.
Previously, amid the criticisms on Sen. Bato dela Rosa’s continued salary despite his absence, Senate Pres.
Tito Sotto claimed that a member of the Congress allegedly does not go to work for more than a year but continues to be paid
. The Senate Chief did not drop a name over his claim.

Under the House Bill No. 7432 filed by Ilocos Norte Cong. Sandro Marcos, a House members may only receive their salary if they attend the chamber’s sessions or official activities related to their work as lawmakers. Based on the

, the presidential Son claimed that it will secure valid reasons for the lawmakers’ absence from their duties.
“This proposed legislation also provides safeguards by recognizing valid reasons for absence, such as illness or official representation duties, while penalizing misconduct and fraudulent claims,”
the younger Marcos stated in his explanatory note.
Previously, amid an impeachment rap against Pres. Ferdinand Marcos Jr., Cong. Sandro Marcos vowed that the House of Representatives will not block any impeachment complaint even if it is against his father. Two (2) impeachment complaints were filed against the President.
