Authorities Arrest 2 Security Guards for Allegedly Beating Teen in Intramuros
Two security guards were arrested after they were accused of assaulting a 17-year-old boy at the Riverside Plaza Mexico Esplanade in Intramuros, Manila.
The incident reportedly started after the teenager was called out for riding a bicycle in an area where cycling was not allowed.
Based on a report from the Manila Police District, the incident happened at around 9:05 in the evening on Sunday, February 8, 2026. The victim was identified as Thiane Khiean De Guzman Ancot, who was spending time in the area when the confrontation occurred.
Police said the teenager was biking when he was approached by two security guards, later identified as Gilbert Mendez, 38, and Nilo Anub, 28. Both men were working for a private security agency assigned to the area.
The guards reportedly told the teen to stop cycling, which led to a heated argument after he refused to comply.
As tensions rose, the teenager allegedly tried to leave the area using his bicycle. However, investigators said the two guards chased him, caught up with him, and then worked together to hurt him.
The incident caused concern among nearby pedestrians and prompted a quick response from authorities.
Members of the Tourist Police Unit arrived after the incident. The victim pointed to the two guards as the ones who attacked him, leading to their immediate arrest. The teenager was then brought to a hospital to receive medical attention for his injuries.
The case was later referred to the Women and Children Concern Section for further investigation, as the victim is a minor. Authorities said they are preparing charges related to physical injuries and possible violations of the law that protects children from abuse and harm.
