Working Student Files Complaint vs 10 Cops Over Alleged Illegal Arrest
A working student in Angono, Rizal has filed a serious complaint against ten police officers after claiming he was illegally arrested and robbed during an operation.
The incident was partly captured on CCTV and raised concern among residents and sparked calls for accountability.
Based on the CCTV footage, several police officers in civilian clothes were first seen arresting two individuals for alleged involvement in illegal drugs. The situation appeared routine at first.
However, a few minutes later, the working student, who was simply passing by on his motorcycle, suddenly became involved.
According to the victim, he had nothing to do with the earlier arrest and was only on his way when police stopped him. He said the officers questioned him and later detained him without clearly explaining his violation.
The working student also claimed that he was pressured to admit to a crime he did not commit, despite repeatedly denying any wrongdoing.
The student further alleged that during the arrest, the police officers took his gold ring. He also said he was asked to pay P50,000 in exchange for his release. Despite this, he was not freed and instead spent two months in jail while his case was ongoing.
For the victim, the experience was deeply painful and stressful. As a working student, he relied on his income to support his studies and daily needs. Being detained for months not only affected his education but also caused emotional strain on his family.
In January, the court dismissed the case against him after finding no strong evidence. He was finally released, but the impact of the incident remained. Determined to seek justice, the student decided to file a formal complaint against the police officers involved.
The victim hopes that by speaking out, others will be encouraged to stand up against abuse and help prevent similar incidents in the future.
