32 Albay barangays were affected by the Mayon Volcano ashfall.
The Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (PHIVOLCS) reported that 32 barangays were affected by the ashfall of Mayon Volcano.
On Tuesday, the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (PHIVOLCS) reported that Mayon Volcano has an ongoing effusive eruption in Albay. This event has produced new lava flows, pyroclastic density currents (PDCs) or “uson,” and rockfalls on its southern and eastern slopes.

. Based on a report, Mayon had a total of 1,690 PDCs, 9,941 rockfalls, and 1,346 volcanic earthquakes recorded from January 1 to February 9. Its average sulfur dioxide emission amounted to 2,466 tons per day, with a peak of 6,569 tons per day on February 4.
Recently, 32 barangays in Camalig and Guinobatan were affected by the ashfall after the volcano generated the largest pyroclastic density current (PDC) on Monday.

“Three major PDC events occurred between 2:30 AM and 2:44 AM but these were obscured for the greater part by cloud cover. Ashfall around this time was reported by residents of Tumpa, Guinobatan, Albay to the PHIVOLCS Quick Response Team (QRT) on routine reconnaissance on the western slopes later in the morning,”
PHIVOLCS said.
The Department of Health (DOH) warned about the health risks of the ashfall and reminded the residents to protect themselves, as this could be dangerous to health. The agency urged the residents to wear safety goggles, face masks, and clothing that covers the arms and legs.
