Cardinal Jose Advincula is calling on Filipino Catholics to transform their faith into meaningful action this Lenten season by supporting Alay Kapwa, the Church’s annual charitable initiative.

In his pastoral letter, the cardinal said Lent offers the faithful a time to deepen their spiritual lives through prayer, reflection, and compassionate service to the poor, the sick, and the marginalized.

“Lent invites us to embark on a journey of faith, hope, and love, drawing closer to Jesus Christ through acts of charity and generosity,” Advincula said.

Alay Kapwa collections will be conducted during the second offering on six Sundays of Lent: Feb. 22 and March 1, 8, 15, 22, and 29. Donations will directly support Caritas Manila’s Damayan Program.

The program provides relief and humanitarian aid to families affected by natural and man-made disasters, continuing the Church’s mission to support vulnerable communities nationwide.

The cardinal encouraged Catholics to open their hearts and give generously, reminding them that each contribution, no matter the size, embodies love, solidarity, and the spirit of true Christian charity.

“As we continue to provide social services to the poor, it is our fervent prayer that we support Alay Kapwa 2026,” Advincula said.
