Sen. Robin Padilla Wants Age Limit on Social Media Use

Countless criticisms were thrown at Sen.
Robin Padilla when he asked why the Philippine Coast Guard did not secure stronger water cannons and fired back at China
. His statement came amid his opposition to the move of PCG spokesperson Jay Tarriela against Chinese leader Xi Jinping.
During a lecture at a university, Tarriela used a caricature of the Chinese leader. Padilla believes it is wrong and does not exhibit respect. According to him, even if he is part of the opposition, he will also get mad if the same thing will be done to President Bongbong Marcos.
Amid the criticisms against him and the accusations that he is allegedly “pro-China”, the Senator issued a warning for people who are supposedly trying to pick a fight with China. He stressed that the Chinese government might not be able to take it anymore and would decide to enter the Philippines.
Recently, during the hearing of the Senate Committee on Public Information and Mass Media on the Children’s Safety in Social Media Act, Sen. Robin Padilla also expressed his take on the youth nowadays as he compared them with the youth during his time.

“Ang mga bata po ngayon, sad to say, huwag kayong magagalit sakin, nako maraming batang magagalit siguro pero pasensya na kayo, you are weak. Hindi kayo katulad nung panahon namin na hindi kami iyakin. Natuto kami, natuto kami sa kalsada, natuto kami na huwag umupo, umiyak,”

, Sen. Robin Padilla also claimed that the word “depression” is not rampant during their time. According to him, he does not even know what it is but even the small children now claim that they are depressed.
“Nung panahon namin hindi uso yung salitang depression. Hindi ko nga alam yun eh, kung ano yung depression. Ngayon batang maliit, sasabihin I’m depressed. Magulo eh. Kaya sana po pag-usapan po natin ito
,” the Senator said.

Robin Padilla also defended the Duterte bloc with Sen. Bong Go
after the latter stressed that they are “solid”.
