LTFRB Flags 10 Run Down Jeepneys During Inspection in Quezon City
LTFRB took action against at least 10 run-down public jeepneys that were flagged during an inspection in Quezon City.
The Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board has issued show cause orders to the operators after finding several violations that raised concerns about passenger safety and proper operations.
The inspection was carried out on Tuesday (February 10, 2026) along West Avenue, Fernando Poe Jr. Avenue, and Roosevelt. During the operation, LTFRB personnel saw multiple jeepneys parked along the roadside, some of them clearly not in running condition.
According to the agency, this situation showed that the operators did not have proper garages, which is a direct violation of existing rules that require public utility vehicles to have designated parking and maintenance areas.
Aside from the lack of garages, several jeepneys were found to be in poor condition. Some units had broken brake lights, worn-out seats, and damaged ceilings. These issues can cause discomfort to passengers and may also lead to accidents on the road.
Inspectors also noted that some drivers were not wearing proper uniforms and were dressed in a manner that did not meet the standards for public transport drivers.
The LTFRB also inspected a jeepney terminal in Eton Centris, Quezon City. The terminal operator was reminded to improve its facilities to ensure the safety and comfort of commuters, especially during peak hours when many passengers rely on public transportation.
The agency stressed that regular inspections are important to protect commuters who depend on jeepneys every day. Poorly maintained vehicles put not only passengers at risk but also other motorists and pedestrians.
