Veteran actress Vangie Labalan passes away.

Another legend of Philippine cinema has taken her final bow, as veteran actress Vangie Labalan passes away at the age of 83.

He wrote,

“With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of our beloved mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, cousin and friend, Vangie Labalan (Ma. Christina Bonghanoy Labalan). She passed away today in Australia due to illness, surrounded by those dearest and nearest to her heart. Her memories will forever remain in our hearts.”

Vangie’s last project was a guest appearance in ABS-CBN’s primetime series “FPJ’s Batang Quiapo.”

Her life took a pivotal turn in 1979 when legendary filmmaker Ishmael Bernal discovered her natural talent during a dubbing session. Struck by her raw emotional depth, Bernal encouraged her to fully embrace a career in film.
