Former Finance Usec. Cielo Magno Slams Sen. Robin Padilla
FORMER FINANCE USEC
– Ex-Department of Finance Undersecretary Cielo Magno reacted to the remarks of Senator Robin Padilla over the Senate panel’s flood control report.
The Senate launched its own investigation into the flood control mess in the Philippines. The probe is led by its investigative body, the Blue Ribbon Committee, which is currently chaired by Senate President Pro Tempore Ping Lacson.
After the creation of the Independent Commission for Infrastructure,
House Speaker Bojie Dy said that the flood control probe is best left in the hands of the ICI
. As for the Senate, the upper chamber continued with its investigation.
The Senate Blue Ribbon Committee invited several officials of the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) into its flood control probe. It also invited contractors and other individuals tagged in the supposed multi-billion scam.
However, not only members of the House of Representatives, DPWH officials, and contractors were tagged in the flood control mess. Some senators and former senators were also mentioned in the testimonies during the flood control hearing.
Recently, Senate President Pro Tempore
Ping Lacson confirmed the presence of a flood control report and said that the filing of charges of may be recommended against senators Chiz Escudero, Joel Villanueva, and Jinggoy Estrada
. Meanwhile, he stressed that the flood control report then was a draft and partial.

Shortly after presidential sister and Sen.
Imee Marcos claimed that the senators allegedly can no longer rely to the Senate to defend and protect them
amid the chamber being supposedly a target of the flood control probe.
Senate President Pro Tempore
Ping Lacson also later on announced that the Senate panel is proposing a preliminary investigation against the senators instead of charges
. He claimed that only the wording was allegedly changed and they supposedly meant the same.
Amid the flood control report issue in the Senate, minority Sen.
Robin Padilla claimed that he will not sign the report if Senate Minority Leader Alan Peter Cayetano will decline it
. According to him, they should be solid in the minority bloc.
