Grade 5 Student Dies After Being Stabbed in the Eye by Classmate in Butuan City

A grade 5 student passed away after being stabbed by a classmate at Antongalon Elementary School in Butuan City.

The victim, identified by the alias Macky, was 13 years old. He was reportedly stabbed in the eye with a ballpen by his 11-year-old classmate. The incident took place inside their classroom and was said to have started from a misunderstanding while they were playing a game on their cellphones.

In the middle of the confrontation, the 11-year-old boy reportedly struck back using the ballpen he was holding, hitting Macky in the eye.

A school caretaker heard loud shouting coming from the classroom. When the caretaker checked what was happening, Macky was seen bleeding from his left eye. School staff immediately acted and rushed him to Butuan City Medical Center for treatment.

Due to the seriousness of his injury, he was later transferred to a private hospital. Despite the efforts of doctors to save him, Macky passed away four days later while receiving medical care.

The incident has left many in the school community saddened and concerned.

Police authorities are continuing their investigation to fully understand what happened and to determine the proper steps under the law, considering that both children involved are minors.
