Kiko Barzaga Deletes His Controversial Posts Amid 60-Day Suspension

Cong. Kiko Barzaga did this after his suspension

Cavite Fourth District Congressman Kiko Barzaga deleted his controversial posts against President Bongbong Marcos amid his 60-day suspension.

Because of his “offensive” social media posts, the Committee on Ethics and Privileges released a decision to

suspend him for 60 days

, without pay. He was also ordered to delete his posts.

These 24 social media posts were used as the basis for the complaint filed by members of the National Unity Party (NUP) against Barzaga before the House Committee on Ethics and Privileges.

The complaint stated that the congressman’s posts contain language and images that use derogatory language against government institutions. It was also said that these posts use vulgar and inappropriate language for a government official, and that he promoted disunity and undermined public trust in government, as well as violated the standards of decency expected of members of the House.

The congressman was warned by House Committee on Ethics and Privileges chairperson and 4Ps Party-list Rep. JC Abalos that Barzaga would face harsher punishment if he did not delete his social media posts.

So, we will be checking on it in due time and in accordance with our committee report. If he doesn’t take it out, much harsher disciplinary action may be imposed upon him

,” Abalos said.

In a statement, former Pangasinan Cong. Hernani “Nani” Braganza criticized the House of Representatives for imposing a 60-day suspension without pay on Barzaga.

The older Barzaga said there were a lot of “cong-tractor” in the Congress, and that the focus must be on them, but the House prioritized Cong. Barzaga’s suspension. ”

In fact, if I’m not mistaken, Secretary Boying Remulla said, at least 10 percent of congressmen are ‘cong-tractors’. Bakit siya nauna? Bakit n’yo inuna ‘yung nag-e-expose ng anomalya¬ at ‘yung gumagawa ng anomalya eh okay lang?

” Nani Barzaga said.
