PCO Speaks on Pres. Bongbong Marcos amid the Flood Control Mess in PH

– The Presidential Communications Office confirmed that the President is open for a dialogue with Vice Pres. Sara Duterte for “national interest”.
The supposed massive corruption in the Philippine government left countless Filipinos disappointed. Last September 21 and November 30, thousands of Filipinos joined the street rallies to protest against corruption.

Several congressmen and officials of the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) and some senators and former senators were tagged in the supposed multi-billion flood control corruption. Amid the issue, Pres.
Bongbong Marcos assured that he will bring the flood control issue into conclusion as he was the one who initiated it
Marcos Jr. ordered the creation of an independent commission to investigate the flood control mess in the country. His order led to the creation of the Independent Commission for Infrastructure or ICI.
The flood control investigation of the independent commission is ongoing. The
ICI recently recommended the filing of flood control charges against former Sen. Bong Revilla
and many others. Marcos Jr. also previously confirmed the issuance of arrest warrants against Zaldy Co and several others tagged in the flood control mess.
Based on a report on PhilStar, Presidential Communications Secretary Dave Gomez claimed that the mood in Malacañang “is still very much steady and focused”. According to him, work has not stopped in the Palace even for a single day.
“I know there’s a lot of political noise going on out there, but the President is very clear. We’re dealing with a very serious problem here of flood control
,” the PCO Chief told ANC.
PCO Sec. Dave Gomez also confirmed that Pres. Bongbong Marcos is open for a dialogue with Vice Pres. Sara Duterte over national interest. It is no secret to the public that the tandem of Marcos Jr. and Duterte have gone separate ways in 2024.

“I heard him say it many times. He is open. He’s open to anybody who would reach out to him for dialogue for the sake of national interest,”
Gomez said.

, the PCO Secretary further stressed that Vice Pres. Sara Duterte remains the second-highest official in the government and “the President is open to dialogue with anyone for national interest”.
However, previously, the Vice President refused to give an advice for the Philippine government. Amid some calls for the President to step down, Vice Pres.
Sara Duterte confirmed that she is ready to replace Pres. Bongbong Marcos if he resigns
from his position.
