Phivolcs Releases Bulletin about the Earthquake in Davao Occidental, December 5, 2025

– The Phivolcs recorded a 3.5 magnitude quake in Davao Occidental today, December 5, 2025. Here are the details.

last September 30, another significant quake was recently recorded by the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) in another province. According to the agency, the quake recently hit Davao Occidental and it has a magnitude of 3.5.

that struck Davao Occidental today, December 5, 2025, was tectonic in origin. A tectonic quake is a shaking which is a product when the Earth’s crust breaks because of the geological forces on the rocks and the adjoining plates which result to chemical and physical changes.
According to Phivolcs, the earthquake that hit a part of Davao Occidental was located at 04.38°North, 126.62°East – 175 km South 49° East of Balut Island in the Municipality Of Sarangani. It had a depth of focus of 015 kilometers.

stated in its bulletin that damages are not expected from the said quake neither aftershocks. According to the quake-recording agency, no intensity was recorded at the epicenter of the quake as well as the nearby areas. No instrumental intensity was logged as well.
