, Vice President Sara Duterte expressed that this year is going to be a sad Christmas for the Filipinos.
According the the second-in-command, when asked for a message for the Filipino people as Christmas nears, this year’s Holiday season is going to be sad because of the corruption, scandals, and abuse in the government that hounded the country.
During an interview at the Hague, the Netherlands, where former President Rodrigo Duterte was detained by the International Criminal Court, she said,
“Well, malungkot ang Pasko natin dahil hindi natin gusto ang mga nangyayari sa ating bansa, lalong-lalo na yung mga iskandalo sa korapsyon at yung pag-aabuso sa posisyon at mga opisina ng gobyerno.”
She, however, strongly reminded the people to keep their strength and hope alive. She believes that Pinoys are resilient and have to get through the season with hope despite the corruption issues.
“At syempre ipagdasal natin yun na mas maganda ang ating taong 2026 sa kung anuman yung dinaanan natin ngayong 2025,”
the vice president said.
