Vice Pres. Sara Duterte Issues Statement on Possible Fresh Impeachment Complaint against her

– The Vice President issued a statement on the looming impeachment complaint against her after the ban is lifted.
Several impeachment complaints were filed against Duterte in the House of Representatives amid the questions over the alleged misuse of the P625 million confidential funds of the Office of the Vice President (OVP) and the Department of Education (DepEd) under her lead. It was the fourth complaint that was transmitted to the Senate.
Amid the calls on the chamber to start the trial on the impeachment process against the Vice President, the

. The chamber’s decision came after the Supreme Court ruled the impeachment case against the Vice President as “unconstitutional”.
According to the Supreme Court, the impeachment complaint against Duterte goes against the one-year ban. The court said that a fresh impeachment complaint against the Vice President may only be filed starting February 6, 2024.

. On its archiving, 19 senators supported the motion to archive it while four (4) senators were against it.

Recently, the
Bagong Alyansang Makabayan
(BAYAN) confirmed that it is eyeing a fresh impeachment complaint against Vice Pres. Sara Duterte. However, BAYAN chairperson Teddy Casiño confirmed that they have to study more about filing another impeachment complaint against the Vice President.
“Pinag-aaralan kasi namin ano ‘yung naging implications nitong Supreme Court ruling… Maraming dinagdag na mga conditions ang Supreme Court. Medyo mas mahirap na ngayong mag-file ng impeachment. So ’yun ang mga pinag-aaralan. Of course, the intention is there,”
Casiño said.
Recently, Vice Pres. Sara Duterte issued a statement over the looming impeachment complaint against her. The Vice President claimed that it is “not surprising” and it is in time with the incoming passage of the 2026 national budget.
“Not long ago, Sen. Chiz Escudero, Rep. Toby Tiangco, and several House members revealed that, back in February 2024, signatures for my impeachment were being courted in exchange of budget allocations. Their statements have unmasked the truth that the impeachment complaint against me was never really driven by principle but by price. Despite such revelations, no inquiry or investigation was conducted to hold anyone accountable,”
