Amid the Bicam, House Speaker Bojie Dy Speaks on Budget Process
House Speaker Bojie Dy insisted that no insertions are taking place in the bicameral conference committee over the 2026 budget of the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH).
The bicameral conference committee is currently tackling the proposed budget for 2026. The upper and lower houses are working to align the provisions in the pursuit to pass the budget for next year.
Malacañang claimed that President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. is confident that the 2026 budget will be passed on time
. It came amid the admission of the bicam that they are not on schedule now.
According to DPWH Sec. Dizon, the fund that they are requesting is important in the construction of almost 10,000 projects of the agency. The senators gave different reactions to the request of the Public Works Chief.
Senate President Pro Tempore
Ping Lacson claimed that the DPWH should clarify it if they have miscomputed the budget
. According to him, they will allegedly appear as the villain if they will add funds to the agency without the clarification.
“Liwanagin niyo na nagkamali kayo ng computation. Hindi ‘yung kami ‘yung lalabas na kontrabida na magdagdagdag kami, ‘yung Congress,”
Lacson said.
Presidential sister and Sen.
Imee Marcos slammed DPWH Sec. Vince Dizon over the budget request
. According to her, the Public Works Chief is asking for additional budget but he does not trust the people who will implement the projects.
“At kung tunay na wala kayong tiwala sa sino mang district engineer, hindi po ako abogado ng Public Works. Dapat tanggalin na lang ninyo lahat kasi pinapadagdagan mo ‘yung budget tapos yung mga mag-i-implement, wala kang tiwala, ano naman kami?”
she said.
