Female Nurse Lost Her Life After Being Run Over by Modern Jeepney in Marikina
A female nurse tragically lost her life after being run over by a modern jeepney in Barangay Barangka, Marikina City.
On Wednesday morning, December 17, 2025, a 35-year-old nurse died after she was run over by a modern jeepney along A. Bonifacio Avenue near the corner of Kabo Pio Street in Barangay Barangka, Marikina City.
According to the investigation by the Marikina City Police Station, both the modern jeepney and the motorcycle were traveling along the same stretch of road. The modern jeepney was using the outer lane, while the motorcycle was moving on its right side.
While moving, the motorcycle rider suddenly lost her balance and fell to the left. In a tragic moment, she was run over by the rear wheel of the modern jeepney.
The rider suffered serious injuries from the impact. The area is regularly monitored by barangay guards who help maintain order and assist pedestrians, especially students crossing the street.
Once the accident happened, the incident was quickly reported to barangay officials so emergency responders could act right away.
Personnel from Marikina Rescue 161 rushed the injured nurse to the hospital in hopes of saving her life. Despite their efforts, doctors declared her dead on arrival due to the severity of her injuries.
“Hindi naman gusto rin ng driver ‘yun, nang nakadaleng ‘yun. Pagdating naka-handusay ‘yung babae syempre bumagsak, biglang may dumating na sasakyan. Lagi naman kaming may tanod doon. Inaalalayan din ‘yung mga tumatawid, mga estudyante. Kaya pag may aksidente roon, bato agad sa barangay,”
Barangay Barangka Desk officer Shirley De Guzman said.
Her untimely death brought sadness to her family, friends, and fellow health workers who knew her as someone devoted to caring for others.
The 45-year-old driver of the modern jeepney is now in the custody of the Marikina City Police. Authorities are preparing possible charges of reckless imprudence resulting in homicide and damage to property. The driver has not yet given a statement as the investigation continues.
