– The Department of Public Works and Highways released a statement on the death of former Undersecretary Maria Catalina Cabral.

Several officials of the Department of Public Works and Highways were tagged in the flood control mess in the Philippines. Amid the issue, some of them resigned from their positions. One of those who stepped down was former Usec. Maria Catalina Cabral.

It was in September when Cabral tendered his resignation to Public Works Chief Vince Dizon. He accepted the resignation of the former Undersecretary two (2) days after she submitted her resignation letter.

However, recently, countless Filipinos were shocked when

Ex-DPWH Usec. Catalina Cabral was found dead after an alleged fall from a cliff

in Benguet. The body of the former Public Works Undersecretary was found unresponsive 20 to 30 meters deep along the banks of the Bued River at Kennon Road in Tuba, Benguet.

The driver of former DPWH Usec. Maria Catalina Cabral claimed that he dropped off Cabral at around 3:00 p.m. at the Maramal area. However, he could not find her when he returned to the area.

The police reports stated that Cabral died due to an alleged fall. The investigation is still ongoing. Her remains were brought to a local funeral parlor.

Recently, the DPWH released a statement on the death of former Public Works Usec. Maria Catalina Cabral. Through its statement, the agency expressed its deepest condolences to the family of the former Usec. during this very difficult time.

According to the DPWH, Cabral served in the government agency for 40 years and “her loss will be mourned throughout the organization”.
